Pavel Sporcel, Prague

For the occasion of
it is typical that his
audience likes
surprises; whether it
was once a headscarf,
which is now one of his
hallmark; or last
Sporcelain album,
which mixed
with classic
pop and electronics.
Now we present the
audience with
a new instrument he had
brought from Violectra
electric violins.
He had built for him, by
Dave Bruce
Johnson from his Birmingham
workshop, to
play with the
instrument virtuosos
Nigel Kennedy, Leila
Josefowicz and
Jean-Luc Ponty.
Violectra violins are made
of maple wood, you
have a tailpiece
with gears; Šporclovy; even
his signature.
Pavel collected his Violectra in London in early July after recording
some James Bond film score at Pinewood studios |

REVIEWS
The
Telegraph (De Telegraaf) (NL):
'Jacob ter Veldhuis composed a solo for Monica Germino, who drew
long, plaintive tones and piercing outbursts from her powerfully
amplified electric violin, alongside a soundtrack of indefinable
sounds...The violinist is the central figure on stage. She breathes
life into the dancers with her notes and summons the memories in
them to wake. She leads, inspires, manipulates.’
Rotterdams Dagblad (NL):
'Violinist Monica Germino performs Jacob ter Veldhuis' new score
live and moves like an eleventh dancer through the group. The
amplified electric violin music lures you into another world...'
'Dancers are lashed into action by violinist Monica Germino, who is
always on stage. She [Germino] resembles a kind of snake charmer,
but then not with a flute but rather with her electric violin...'
The CD:
JacobTV | SUITES OF LUX, on Basta Music (double CD)
“...Monica Germino plays expansively and with beautiful tone
in the rock- and new age-tinged SUITES OF LUX, for electronic violin
and soundtrack, the largest work on the album.”

The New York Times (USA), about the Lincoln Center performance of
Donnacha Dennehy’s work for ELECTRA
-scored for voice, Violectra & distortion, recorders &
